Sonic Hyperrealism is an experimental album by Mercuri that explores the concept of hyperrealism within the sonic realm. The project is built around the idea of creating soundscapes that feel more real than reality itself, where reconstructed, simulated, and transformed sounds challenge our perception of what is natural and artificial.

The album is composed of four immersive pieces developed through a process that combines field recording, Foley techniques, synthesis, digital processing, and emerging technologies. Detached from any visual reference, the sounds are designed to stand on their own, inviting the listener into a purely auditory experience. Mixed in binaural, Sonic Hyperrealism emphasizes spatial depth and intimacy, encouraging close and attentive listening through headphones.

Originating as a research project for a Master’s thesis, the album represents a shift in methodology and approach to sound, treating it as a transversal creative medium rather than something tied to a specific format or industry. Sonic Hyperrealism marks the beginning of an ongoing exploration into new ways of listening, creating, and understanding sound.
